Description
The top wand is cedar. That went to a co-worker who's favorite cedar tree fell on the oak tree that the second wand was made from. She gave me wood from both and in return I carved the cedar one for her. She picked the amethyst stone for it's end.
Both are carved by hand. I do not use a lathe--although with my hand pain it would be easier. I use chisels. My tool marks are noticeable. Both pieces are finished with woodburning (the eagle feather is free hand) and then a combination of orange oil and beeswax. Both are over 14 inches long and 2 inches wide approximately.
The bottom wand of oak is on sale on ebay:
My oak wand
I'll be adding more woodworking as I get more completed. Right now the costuming work for the Renaissance Festival becons!!!!
